Coincidental with Heroes Day, Research and Technology Ministry, Danamon Care Foundation, Association of Open Source Indonesia (AOSI) and PT Telekomuikasi Indonesia Tbk (Telkom) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in increasing schools' technological ability.

As the first step 200 decent computers ex Danamon Bank were given to five schools in Thousand Islands. Each receives 40 computers with specification of IBM Pentium 3, Linux OS, Open Source application, Speedy Internet access with a server.

Research and Technology State Ministry cooperating with Association of Open Source Indonesia (AOSI), Danamon Care Foundation (DCF), and PT. Telkom gave 200 OSS-based computers aid to 5 middle schools in Thousand Islands.

An MoU was also signed to increase information technology (IT) ability in schools by Deputy Assistant of IT Development, Kemal Prihatman, AOSI Chairman, Betti Alisjahbana, DCF Executive Director, Risa Bhineka, and Executive General Manager for PT. Telkom Indonesia, Mas'ud Khamid.

The aid was symbolically given to Chairman of Danamon Care Foundation, Risa Bhinekawati to Deputy Headmaster of 285 Public Middle School, witnessed by Research and Technology State Minister, Ir. Abdul Rachman Andit, M.Sc, Kusmayanto Kadiman, Betti Alisjahbana, and many others.

Jakarta – Indonesian Open Source Community continues to strengthen their forces, this time by forming Association of Open Source Indonesia (AOSI). The association received support from many Open Source motivators in the nation.

The signing of AOSI establishment act was done on Monday (30/6/2008) at Communication and Information (Kominfo) Ministry Office, Jakarta, directly witnessed by Kominfo Minister Mohammad Nuh.

As a continuation of Indonesia Goes Open Source (IGOS) Summit 2008, today (30/6), Indonesian open source community officially founded Association of Open Source Indonesia (AOSI) in Jakarta. AOSI initial founders, Harry Sufehmi, Teddy Sukardi, Sumitro Roestam and Rusmanto  also Ambassador for Open Source Indonesia, Betti Alisjahbana, have established AOSI as a legal association and to have several real programs.

AOSI expects to achieve a positive image of open source software (OSS) in the society.

Jakarta - Association of Open Source Indonesia (AOSI) established an open source training and application development center to strengthen open source business in Indonesia.

Harry Sufehmi, one of AOSI founders, said AOSI is building a training location provided for institutions or organizations wanting to learn about open source implementation. Aside from that, he said, AOSI also plans to build a development center to create a driver, making open source computer compatible with its accessories.
